Understanding the marker
Anti-CCP measures antibodies that can help assess rheumatoid arthritis, a condition that causes joint inflammation.
The test is used with joint symptoms and an examination when rheumatoid arthritis is suspected. It is not a general health screening test. A negative result does not rule out the condition; persistent joint swelling still needs assessment.
What does a positive Anti-CCP result mean?
A positive anti-CCP result can support an assessment of rheumatoid arthritis when joint symptoms and examination findings fit. The antibody result alone does not establish a diagnosis.
What does a negative Anti-CCP result mean?
Negative anti-CCP makes RA less likely but does not rule out the disease.
