Understanding the marker

hs-CRP measures low concentrations of the same CRP protein and can add context to selected cardiovascular risk assessments.

This sensitive test measures small amounts of the same CRP protein measured by standard CRP tests. Recent illness or injury can affect it. In selected circumstances, a persistent elevation contributes to cardiovascular assessment alongside other risk factors; it does not locate inflammation.

What does high hs-CRP mean?

A high hs-CRP can reflect an inflammatory response, including after recent illness or injury. A single value does not establish persistent inflammation or its cause. The reason for testing and other findings guide interpretation.

What does low hs-CRP mean?

A low hs-CRP indicates little of this protein was measured. It does not exclude all inflammation or provide a complete assessment of cardiovascular risk.
