Understanding the marker

Progesterone rises after ovulation. An appropriately timed sample can support that ovulation has recently occurred.

The sampling time is central to progesterone interpretation. When assessing ovulation, follow the individual collection plan and record the relevant cycle timing. A single sample does not measure fertility or establish the quality of the phase after ovulation.

What does high Progesterone mean?

Progesterone varies with reproductive stage and hormone treatment. A high result is assessed using the confirmed reason for testing and sampling time; it does not establish pregnancy or ovulation on its own.

What does low Progesterone mean?

A low progesterone value can be expected at some sampling times. Without the relevant timing and treatment information, it cannot establish whether ovulation has occurred.
